07:41 UTC+1 In this moon, Chiron the healer is opposing the new moon, and brings the essence of great healing in association with the solar eclipse which together blend into an opportunity for profound change, new beginnings, and the healing of karmic patterns.

Chiron’s father was the Greek god Kronus (Saturn) and his mother was a beautiful nymph named Philyra. Philyra turned into a mare to hide away from Kronus’ advances but in turn he shape shifted into a Stallion and consummated his desire for her. The resulting boy child was a Centaur and Philyra was so disgusted she abandoned him causing him great pain and suffering. Later, in a battle of Centaurs and Gods, Hercules carelessly wounded Chiron with an arrow charged with the blood of the monster Hydra. These wounds caused severe pain and would never heal. To overcome the pain, Chiron shared his recognition of pain and healing back to the world through great teachings, wisdom and healing powers.

Today we recognize Chiron as the Wounded Healer, reflecting the framework of the potential healer that lives inside of us, the shamanic energies that lie dormant until ignited . Chiron wounding is one that results from a careless accident from someone close, and generally related to the destruction of trust, for which no-one can be blamed, and is a wound that will never fully heal. By learning from our work on own healing of our wounds and wisdom that grows within, we in turn become healers through sharing the healing and teaching powers offered by our Chiron wound.

This week’s yoga class theme: The inner teacher: Look to the teacher within, the grace we receive from karmic healing, from release from endings, the joy of new beginnings and the wisdom you bring to your world as the wounded healer.
