From Idea to Reality

Looking out on my day today, I had nothing in the diary, no claims on my time, no meetings to go to, nowhere to travel, a simple day of work. On the one hand it was a joy, I felt really rich, and delightfully free. However, for me, I know that without some structure to the day, that freedom may take over, and a free diary doesn’t always mean there’s nothing to do.

This translated into lots of things going on in my head, dancing from idea, to idea, to idea, tripping lightly over unrealised ideas past, and time is passing, and its great but I’m not actually getting anything done. And without the structure to assemble those ideas into something fruitful they can become bewitching, beguiling, and out of reach, even unachievable.

Over the past few weeks our classes have been a journey through the chakras – each week taking one chakra at a time and exploring the relationships of energy and the metaphorical system that this represents.

The chakras also act as a framework for the manifestation of Ideas, and the way they come into play, when we create, and envision through the upper chakras, how we bring voice to the idea, how we communicate and engage through the vishuddha and anahata chakra and how we go on to build our ideas into reality through the will, the sensing and the grounding.

So, in the same way as we can see the concept of creativity and thought becoming an action and something that we build into reality, the chakras work together to give us the structures from which we can build our thought processes into ideas, how we visualise those ideas and build them into concepts, and voice those concepts into projects, and drive them through to the end results.

And we pretty much do that every day, from very simple things such as having the idea to have some tea and grounding that idea into a cup of refreshment, to the more complex. This extends into areas where we may need to resource the help of others, where we need to use our networking skills – the skills of the heart, of our relationships, being able to engage others and help ground their thoughts too. We can go from the very simple manifestation of thoughts to the far more complex, and these are all part of this structure of chakras and energies that we work with.

So one of the ideas I had this morning that I did manage to ground into reality was to look at how we can use our yoga practice to help guide the transition of thought to reality. So, very simply in our next Dulwich classes we’ll be exploring how we combine our yoga practice with this framework to build out ideas, how we ground our thoughts and use our energy and our practice to build those ideas into reality. You’re welcome to join us, on Fridays and Sundays!
